It is possible to do but I REALLY suggest doing a clean-install to avoid any problems that would likely take more time to fix, then it would to just do the clean-install and re-install all your apps in the first place (hope that made sense)

I had the problem that i had to reinstall several drivers and programs as i updated from 7264 to 7600.

    - Perfect Disk for example is not able to defragment the System files anymore.
    - Creative Sound card is missing the "Microphone boost" option

    Just 2 examples

I upgraded my 7229 x86 to 7600 without any issues. To give this a try, all you need to do is:
    - right click on setup.exe and select property
    - click compatibility tab
    - check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for
    - select Windows Vista (service pack 2)
    - click OK
    - double click setup.exe to start the upgrade

You will only get a "watermark" if you try to activate it illegally.
