Desktop icons not refreshing on deletion in Windows 7

Hi everybody. I googled for a Windows 7 forum and found this. This is my first post.

I've been using Windows 7 7.7600.16384 x64 for a week now and I think it's great. I upgraded from a Vista x64 SP2 machine and the upgrade was surprisingly smooth, with only 1 reboot needed. My system feels more responsive and I didn't have to reinstall everything.

However, I've noticed a strange behavior in the desktop. Sometimes, when I delete a file in my desktop, the icon still remains there. The recycle bin becomes full, but the icon is still there and I can play with it and move it around, only disappearing after I press F5. This is very confusing sometimes. The problem appears after some time using the computer, not immediately after booting, and seems to solve itself after a reboot.

I would like to know if this is a known issue, and if anyone could provide a solution. Thanks in advance!

    Have you disabled any services?
    Or used any registry cleaners?

Yeah, CC Cleaner and I manually disables some services I didn't use in Vista. I'll try to turn them on.

The reason I asked was because I had the same problem awhile ago, but I can't remember if I fixed it by turning a service back on or restoring registry from CCleaner backup.I know it was one of the two.You did make a backup of registry before cleaning..Didn't you? Remeber it is always best to make a backup each time you clean registry, then delete the backups after a few days if no problems arise.

Did anyone figure out how to resolve this issue?

I'm experiencing the same problem on both x64 and x86 versions of 7600 RTM.

After the computer stays on for a long time.... this starts to happen.

    Help?

Did you disable any services, or did you use any application like CCleaner to clean out the registry/files/etc?

Desktop Not Refreshing When Deleting Items

Had siimliar problem on notebook with new install of Windows 7. Whenever I deleted items they would not disappear from folder in explorer unless I manually refreshed and would not appear in Recycle Bin unless I refreshed screen manually. Found out it is related to Aero Themes. Whenever I choose a desktop picture from the Aero group, problem occurs. If I reboot problem temporaily disappears, but returns shortly. Choose a picture from the internet or your personal pictures and problem will disappear. Use this procedure until Microsoft issues a fix.

There is a bug in Windows 7 that prevents the trash bin from refreshing automatically when using custom icons.

Here is a registry fix for that...
