Windows 7: Is there a fix for this to come back?

Ok. I am NEW to this forum as much as with Windows 7. I miss a thing from XP and want to know if someone knows HOW to get it back working on Windows 7. I used to drag and drop many game programs in one specific folder. I arranged them by thumbnails and then combined some of them to get them to work with an .exe program. Doing command prompt every time would become fastidious. LOOK AT MY SCREEN. Is there a fix for this to come back?

Welcome to Seven Forums pfl.
Unfortunately you've found one annoying Windows 7 feature. Windows 7 Auto arranges files within folders. You can force it to your will by renaming them to get the order you want them in. By right clicking inside your folder you can choose several Sort, Arrange, and Grooup by options.

Beyond this you'll need some 3rd party file manager, many of which have cause other problems to crop up.

Hello pfl, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could use the tutorial below to disable auto arrange to be able to arrange the files in any order that you like in Windows Explorer. However, the files will still be together and not be able to be spread out like on the desktop.
