Error message when resuming from hibernation

When coming out of hibernation in Windows 7, I get the following error message:

"Your system's firmware did not preserve the system memory map across the hibernation transition. If you proceed with resume, your system could behave in an unexpected manner after resume completes. It is recommended that you save all your data and reboot after system resume finishes. Kindly check for a firmware update with your system vender as it may fix this problem."

Windows 7 continues to resume and I have not noticed any problems once it resumes.

I am dual booting Vista 64 bit SP2 and Windows 7 64bit on an HP DV3510NR. I recently flashed the latest bios version for my system dated May 2009.

I have no problem resuming from hibernation when booted into Vista.

Has anyone else gotten this error message. Any thoughts on how to go about solving this?

Have you rebooted since the flash? Or did you hibernate, flash, resume?

Also did you reset you BIOS settings to default after flashing?

    A couple of options here.

    1) Update your BIOS
    2) In BIOS, change your ACPI setting (S3, wakeup...) pardon for not digging further here. When you see it, you will recognize it).
    3) Update your ACPI driver i(f HP provides one).

You could also post this problem on as many forums as possible, if you know what I mean.

Yes; Flashed bios, rebooted, set up dual boot w/win 7, restarted, hibernate, error message, reintalled win 7 - restarted,- tried hibernate again, same error message.

No, not yet - will try now.

    Thanks

1 - Done just prior to setting up dual boot w/win7. Bios version dated May 2009 is most up to date. Are you saying that I should I try flashing again?

2 - No user changeable ACPI settings in bios.

    3. Hp does not provide one

Not sure if this is a suggestion or... Several days ago I did post about this on Notebook Review Win 7 Forum. I did get several suggestions, none of which worked. The most likely reply was this is a RC and the problem will most likely be fixed before release. Prior to posting, I googled the exact error message and got nothing. I also searched this forum as well as Notebook Review to no avail.

I find nothing at HP re: BIOS screens, so I cannot verify that there is no ACPI option in BIOS, usually found under Power.

So, let's try to force a driver change. From HP's site:

In order to correct problems with the battery's power management software, follow the steps below.
    1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
    2. Expand the Batteries category.
    3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall .
WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
    4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes .
Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .

Wow, so simple...that seems to have done the trick. Thanks so much for your expertise.

Is it appropriate/okay to link back to your post to close out the thread in that other forum in case anyone else has this problem?

Absolutely. I was just dogging you because the other forum thread was still open.

I'm glad it worked. Most "problems" have simple solutions. Don't forget to rep 7im. His post, and your result, proved that the driver reset would work, and it should have been my first suggestion.

The rep button is in the upper right hand corner of a post. The one in the middle.
