    Default save directoreies

First post, here, was wondering if there was some way I could change the directory my save files default too. No matter what the file type of the file I save is, it saves to the most recently saved-to folder. Instead, everytime I save a link or an image, I want the folder default to open up to a folder somewhere in my hard drive instead of having to navigate there everytime. Its kindve become an inconvenience, and I am one that likes my computer timed streamlined for optimum experience.
    Thanks for any help!

    Welcome to Seven forums djfeas001.

Have a look through this tutorial. Library - Set Save Folder

This way you can create a folder or use an existing one and include in a Libary, and set it as the default save location for you.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

User Folders - Change Default Location

You might want to partition your hard drive first and create a new folder in it with a name such as "Personal Data", and then use it as the new default folder in the manner described in the link.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried the steps listed, but still i still am forced to navigate backward. All i REALLY want is to set the default to the desktop. That way im not hoping around as well as not losing files because I cant remember what obscure folder name I put them in.
Not sure why that Library save thing didnt work for me...

I suppose I forgot to mention most of the items I will be saving will come off of my Internet Browser (Firefox v5). Things like Links and Images default at the most recently saved location, not a location directory I specify (Desktop). If i want to save it at the desktop, then I dont click anything other than "Save" of course. Its just a real inconvenience.

    Does this help?

Change Default Download Location and Settings in Firefox 3

No doubt the fix will be the same or very similar for Firefox 5.

It works for downloading things, videos or music files or what have you, but not for a simple save

In all honesty, I think the only way you can do it is to create the new folder, and then point each application's save destination to the new folder as shown in this screenshot:

The first time you want to save a web page, just choose Save As and point the page at your new default save location and click Save.

Thereafter, each new web page save should default to your new location.

Sorry, I thought items from the net were what you were concerned about.
I don't understand "simple save" If it is a file you have, you'd move it?
