you should be able to disable it in the bios and then uninstall the ExpressGate Utility from within Windows Programs and features. If you do and then decide you want it back just re-enable it in the bios and get the latest version of it from here,

Okay -- I will checkout the Tuts and the links you have kindly offered- not sure how to do bios- I do know what bascically it is and have seen the bios page on my old PCs but as to going there and changing things -- I am helpless

Sorry for mistaking the Express Gate as a win 7 thing--I am at the page before one gets to windows-

"account disabled"


I am getting that 'Catch 22' feeling again- as I can't go on-line with my desktop and my new ASUS at the same time .. and cannot go on-line with the ASUS until I get an external Modem- and even if I had it I could not be n-line with both at the same time--

On most if not all Asus motherboards it is the Delete key to enter the bios, don't see why they would change from that on their laptops. As for where the ExpressGate option is in the bios, on my Asus motherboard it is in the Tools section of the bios where you can turn it on and off.

I don't think the user has ever actually made it into Windows the first time. It sounds like they are stuck at this Gate thing and not getting past it, think it is Windows 7.

Yeah there was some confusion, but we got out of express gate and to the account log on screen.

He is at an "Account Disabled" block

dont know if this is the admin account? or one that was preset when refurbished? not sure.

I suggested to create a new user, but not sure if thats possible from that screen or if activating the hidden admin account is needed? any other thoughts are very welcome

Never had such problems.. Windows 7 is better than Vista in everyway and even faster :)
