I was wanting to try to do a sfc /scannow inside Vista / Vista installation CD but I figure that the files were different so it may mess it up even more.

Sorry for the double post but would it by any chance be the boot manager and not windows?

I really don't understand how installing Ubuntu even touched my 7 partition.

it could be only the bootloader. so download super grub disk and repair your MBR.
you have to burn the iso to a CD or make a bootable usb-stick.

I don't have a big enough USB. I was wondering, if I install Windows 7 into a VirtualMachine can I do sfc /scannow?

Or is there anyway I can repair Windows 7 from my virtual machine?
what is your biggest flash drive?
if its big enough then you can do without the install.wim (it takes about 2-3gb)
in reality the boot.wim is all you really need to boot up from and repair you installation of windows 7 (assuming your complete partition is not corrupt beyond recognition)

or actually you can mount the volume (if you are able to, from a working computer, which means you have to physically move it to another PC that works that has VB installed) into virtualbox
boot from the installation disc image then do a repair from there
do not reboot (and if it does shut it down immediatly)
move it back to the original computer and then boot up...

I am able to boot into the computer, booting into Vista. Is there a way I can it via Vista (same hard drive - diff partition)

My biggest flash drive is 2 GB, although I have a SD card that is 4 GB.

then you are good to go (space wise)...
the iso without the install.wim should be less than a gig so if were you i would give it a shot....

all you have to do is move follow the tutorial on making a bootable external storage device which was the last link given to you by Tyderion...
do everything the tutorial says up to the point where it asks you to move the all the files in the disk image carefully move everything else minus the sources folder...
then create a folder with the same name on your flash drive root and copy everything except the install.wim....with that you should be able to boot from the device and if able to make any repairs to the HDD's first sector (which should be a nominal mbr changes and bootloader which would make windows bootable again...:))

Alright! I got Windows 7 back, but it booted with Windows Vista's boot logo! :S

I saw a tutorial somewhere so I'll find it and fix it! Thanks SO much!
