SOLVED!!

Hey guys
I struggled to solve this issue. Sometimes my PC would wake up right away, sometimes it would take a few minutes of nothing but a black screen and sometimes it would not wake at all.

All the solutions posted on forums regarding power settings proved useless. I tried every single combination of sleep modes, screensavers, updated my drivers ... etc.

THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS:

Switch to Windows 7 Basic theme.

That's it.

How to do it:
- right-click on your empty desktop
- click Personalise
- select Windows 7 Basic theme ... it's at the bottom of the list under "Basic and High Contrast Themes" ... NOT the windows 7 theme under "Aero themes"

Hello,

You can Change the setting in Bios to wake up with double click on Mouse, it worked for me as I was also facing same issue.

I'm having a similar problem with my Toshiba Laptop, W7Pro, 2 external monitors. If the display is set to turn off before going to sleep, it won't come back. If it's set to turn off at the same time the computer goes to sleep, the two external monitors will come on but the laptop screen stays dark. The cursor can be moved through all three screens, including the laptop with no video. The logon screen is there but I can't see it, much less hit the icon to start the system.

I set the display to never go off and that worked fine for a while but now the comp just won't enter sleep mode set that way.

Under all conditions, the way I get it back is to close the lid forcing sleep mode (I set it to do this rather than hibernate) and then open it again after the power shuts down.

I've tried all the settings and suggestions mentioned earlier on this thread but none of them have made a difference. I suppose I could simply shut the laptop whenever I leave it but that's not a fix.

My wife's laptop has the same problems so obviously it's a failing on the part of MS (LOL, what's new there?). Any new ideas on this issue? Thanks.

SP1 fixed my problem. I had installed hotfix KB2300639 last Deecember when it was released and my problem disappeared. SP1 contains that hotfix and many others that relate to the problem.

There is a list pertaing to this problem on another forum. However all the hotfixes mentioned are contained in SP1.

Thanks for the reply, sunrisecc. SP1 didn't correct this issue. I've also kept up with updates along the way so MS evidently doesn't have a fix yet. I was hoping to find a user-end correction.
