Windows 7: Reboot USB drivers?

Reboot USB drivers?

Is it possible to restart USB drivers without either logging off or doing a restart? I have a Focusrite Scarlett sound card that sometimes is unable to wake up after a sleep. The device is otherwise working normally. I'm assuming this has something to do with USB tho I could be wrong.

I've googled all over the place with no luck in resolving the issue. A response from Focusrite wasn't any help and I can't find any forums dealing with this device as it is fairly new on the market.

I've tried fiddling with the USB option in Power but it made no difference.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Burt

Click Windows Orb > Search "Device Manager". Try to find your Focusrite Scarlett sound Device. If you find it > Right Click > Go to "Power Management" Tab > Uncheck "Allow Computer to Turn of this device".

Check if that helps

Also, in Device Manager, you can just try clicking on the top-most element and "Scan for Hardware Changes".

The Scarlett was found in the Device Manager but there was no provision for Power Management. I did, however, find this provision in the USB section. There were a number of USB devices that had PM options. I turned off PM for these devices and I'll see how it goes from there. I also found the specific USB port that the Scarlett is attached to but it did not have a PM option. What I may do is move around the connections to see if I can find one with specific PM options for that port.

Now, if I could only get Audacity to stream capture with this card then I'd be in heaven.

Thanks for the help.

Turns out the problem was a driver conflict with either a bogus toolbar that I don't recall ever downloading, especially since it remained hidden all this time or VMWare which I was using to fiddle with Ubuntu. Since I hadn't booted Ubuntu in a very long time I decided to remove VMWare to see it anything changed.

It sure did.

Now, my sound card works all the time regardless of how long or short a time it sleeps.

Hope this helps someone in someway.
