when typing a name of a file in explorer, cursor jumps to search

    Hi,

lately I've been having a weird and annoying problem, I'm browsing a folder in windows explorer and when I start typing a name of a file or a folder (that exists in the folder), the cursor is jumping to the search window in the top side, the text I type is written there and the search is starting, all I want is that when I type it will point to file I was looking for, if exists (like it should).

    Please help me solve it.

    Thanks.

Please fill in your System Specs from User CP. That will help us help you (I hope).

    Hello Yellow Slider

You've probably changed some folder settings.

    Here's what you do:
    1. Open any folder (Just to open Windows Explorer).
    2. Click Organize.
    3. Click on Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click on the View Tab.
    4. Scroll down up to the end.
    5. Select 'Select the typed item in the view'.
    6. Click OK

The reason I asked for the system specs was to see if it was a laptop or not. If yes then you could be experiencing what is called a "Palm Check" where some part of your had was hitting the touchpad and causing the cursor to jump around. It's a fairly common problem for people who have "Tap to click" enabled.

But that would be ultimately unlikely.
