    Windows 7 in Logical Partition

I'm planning to format my secondary partition and merge it with the logical partition which contained Windows 7.

But since system files are contained in the primary partition (secondary), i can't format it.

    help.

Please post a screenshot from DISKMGMT, maximized and with the columns spread so that all the text in the column cells is visible.

We can help you better if we can see exactly what your hard drive(s) look like.

    Thanks.

As mentioned, we need a maximized disk managment display.

    Here's what we mean:

HOW TO POST A SNAPSHOT OF DISK MANAGEMENT DISPLAY

    Run disk management:
    WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER
WIN is the key with the wavy flag.

Maximize the output of Disk Management:
ALT-Spacebar key combo (this pops up a menu) |
    X key (selects Maximize) |
Drag the field separators (such as between Status and Capacity) to show entire field. This is very important, otherwise, needed info is not visible.

    Make a snapshot:
WIN | type SNIPPING | ENTER
    Click the New button.
Drag the cursor around the area you want to snip.
File | Save as | select save location and name | Save button

    Post the snapshot:
    · Click on the paperclip icon in that row of icons at the top of the message box.
    · Click on a BROWSE button. There are 5 of them.
    · Navigate to the folder containing the snapshot.
    · Click on the snapshot.
    · Click on the OPEN button.
    · Click on the UPLOAD button adjacent to the 5th BROWSE button.
    · Close the MANAGE ATTACHMENTS window.
    · Position the cursor at the spot in the message where you want the
    snapshot to appear.
    · Click on the PaperClip again.
    · Click on the file which you want to insert
    · Attach code will be inserted into your message.

I can do a clean install of Windows 7 and solve the problem. But what I ask for is a simple solution.

You must really be paranoid. Would you mind posting again without marking out the very info that we need in order to help you.

You are proud, aren'tcha? This is not simple but I'll spare you the precise steps which I would otherwise type out for you.

Do you want to keep Win7?

If so you'll need to use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to convert D to Primary first to be able to merge it with C.

Merge is a paid function on most managers so we don't use it much. Instead you could mark D Active once converted to Primary, then from PW CD Disk tab select Rebuild MBR to move System flag to D. If this won't work boot the Win7 DVD REpair console or Repair CD to Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

Once Win7 starts again boot PW CD to delete C and resize D to the left into that space.
