    Desktop icons broken

After trying to install a computer game, my brother noticed that all the icons on the desktop, as well as all the icons on the taskbar show up as windows media centre files. They are recognised as the files they are, and in the properties menu it says a shortcut should take me to its location, but it says that all the file types are windows media centre. therefore when i click on one it simply opens windows media center. I can access most programs through there location in Program Files, but I would like to sort my desktop and taskbar out. Any help would be hugely appreciated

Hello Whiteheadc, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It sounds like your shortcut associations may be messed up. You could download and merge the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to hopefully fix this for you.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
