Laptop gets stuck randomly and none of the keys or mouse works

    Hey,

    I have a HP dv6000 with a 4 GB RAM and Intel Core2 Duo @ 1.50 GHz processor. I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit operating system.

Sometimes the laptop gets stuck and then none of the keys or the mouse works. Yesterday I was watching a movie and the same thing happened but the movie didn't stop. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how it can be solved?

Today morning the laptop wasn't booting and then later I took out the battery and reinserted it and it worked. Are these two problems somehow related?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I would suspect a corrupt graphics driver. Reinstall the driver, reboot and run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

Your particular model is the subject of a known battery issue.

Check this link to see if you are entitled to a replacement battery from HP.

Sorry for being so naive but where can I download graphics drivers from? The driver card I have is Intel GMA X3100.

You may need to change the link to your location, but do check on the battery recall as well.
