Start menu question

In all other versions of Windows when you click on all programes you get a menu of everything installed on youe PC, and when you click on an item you often get a choice of what you want to open.Let me explain further, you have a game called Football, so when you click on the start menu the game Football comes up along with any other programes you have. But when you click on Football you only get the game to play...you dont get the option to play Football OR load the editor. And if the game is installed in the my documents folder then how do you get these options ?

I think I understand you.
If there were other options, the install program should have created a folder in the start menu ( Is that what you mean). If it has not, then create a folder called Football. - You can do this in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
In the same folder, drag and drop your football shortcut into the new folder. Go to you Fottball folder in the windows explorer (is it in Documents?) find the .exe you need, right click it and drag to your new Start Menu - Football folder and, when asked, create a shortcut for it. It will then appear in the start menu.
If this is not what you are asking - disregard - lol.
fwiw. I believe there is no difference in this function in, for example, XP.??

Thanks Davehc,
I will try that.To be more specific, I am talking about the game Football Manager 2010,on Windows XP when I clicked on this program I get the option to Start the game...Load the Editor ...or load the Resource folder. In Windows 7 this game is installed in the My Documents folder and when I click on it I just get the folder, and it looks like I only have the option to open the folder....then what ?

Going back to my other post, is there a .exe in the MyDocuments - Football manager folder? If not, have a look in the path I outlined

I've clicked the "customize" button in the Start menu tab of the "Taksbar and Start menu Properties" and chose the "Display as a menu" Option for "documents". How do you set up the "Documents" link in the start menu to go directly to "My Documents" without having that submenu show up when you...

Start Menu Question Please.
Hi All. Hopefully a silly question this. I have been running 7 now for a couple of months, and generally like it a lot. One small thing did strike me as odd though. Coming from XP, the list of programs in the left pane of the start menu, used to continually update with the most recent...

Start Menu Question
Hello, Is it possible to adjust what items are listed (separately) vertically on the right hand side of the Start Menu ? How ? e.g., having "Downloads" shown as a line-item, and not in the Folder for the User, as well as others ? Thanks, Bob

Start Menu Question
I have a number of items in my start menu and am about to run out of space for them, that is, I'm running out of vertical range. I'm just wondering what happens if your start menu fills up? Do some items get truncated, is another column created? How should I look at this?

Start Menu Customization Question
Hey guys. My friend is still unconvinced about Windows 7 and I am trying to turn him to the darkside. So, he has some minor caveats and cry-baby like problems. Basically what it comes down to is he needs his computer as he is a doctor and can't "Take a few days or weeks to get acclimated." So I...

quick question about start menu
I just installed Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise on my laptop and I am just setting it up to my liking. I am deleting some of the things off the start menu (i.e. help, pictures, music) and it keeps shrinking the start menu. Is there a way that I can get the start menu to stay the same size (the regular...
