    Ultimate Vs. Professional

so RTM is here and present.

quick decisions needs to be made,
I'm wondering if i should install the ultimate or the professional edition.

is the Pro lighter and quicker than ultimate?

i just feel like installing ultimate would be pointless because i don't need that extra features, except the metalanguage support but i believe i will be able to install it on the pro.

how do you feel about ultimate and pro?

    שלום חבר,

Professional is not any faster than Ultimate. It may be slightly lighter, since it installs fewer components to the hard drive, but don't expect it to be a big difference. I would install what you need, and what offers the features you want.

Orbital is right, one edition does not perform any different from another edition. You just have to ask yourself, which functions I am likely to need and purchase accordingly.

what i think is maybe with ultimate there is more unnecessary services that run in the background taking ram.
i think i'll go with professional.

There shouldn't be a noticeable difference. Ultimate just adds a couple things like BitLocker and multi-language ability.

And with the way they work their anytime upgrades that are simply tied to the key, the same software should essentially be going onto the drive. It's just a matter of if it's unlocked or not. I think.

Anyway, unless you'd use something like BitLocker (or I think Ultimate is the only one that can go all the way up to 192 GB of RAM?), there's no real reason to not just do Professional this round. There are no "Ultimate Extras" but there are things Professional would have over Home Premium like the Group Policy Editor and XP Mode ability.
