How to Automatically change power plan on unplug

Is there a way to get my laptop running Win 7 Professional to automatically select Power Saver when running on batteries, and High Performance when plugged in?

Yes, free app call Power Plan Assistant: Power Plan Assistant for Windows® 7 - Features and Benefits

Right click on the tray icon after install and select the options you want for which power plan to select when plugging into A/C and which you want when unplugging A/C.

Can't you do the same thing with a one time change in Control Panel, Power Options, Change Plan Settings, Change Advanced Settings?

I thought so, but it did not work for me. The power plan has to be manually changed when I disconnect or plug into A/C. Does it change automatically for you?

I don't have a Windows 7 laptop to check it with. I do have a Vista laptop that is setup exactly as you described, or at least I think it is. Unfortunately the LCD died and I haven't replaced it yet so I can't check unless I hook up and external monitor and that's more work that I want to do right now.

Hopefully someone else with a Windows 7 laptop will check and post results.
