I understand that people get scammed all the time, but regardless of technical knowledge...if it seems too good to be likely is. On top of that, you should be aware that you are much safer buying things online with a credit card than a debit card. You have protections and methods of recourse with a CC.

As for something contructive, I know Microsoft has UK offices, so I would contact one of them and let them know what happened. In the US, if you report a vendor who sold you conterfeit software, and you can prove you purchased it, you will often get legit licenses. You probably aren't getting your money back, but at least you might end up getting the licenses you expected.

In the future, regardless of what you are buying, and regardless if it is in real life or online, always shop from a reputable vendor. When you saw how cheap the licenses were, that should have immediately told you to at least do some research on the vendor, or ask questions on here.

Which particular vendor did you use?

I've just had a quick look at the site, and I would say that virtually everything there is fake. The prices are just too cheap.

Now that's a dandy site I don't know why people don't turn and run from a site like this, I guess greed gets in the way!

I'm sorry, but you purchased 10 licenses for Windows 7 Ultimate and 10 licenses for Office Pro 2010 and you said it cost $700. Seriously, this is a mere fraction of what legitimate copies of this software would cost...nobody should fall into this trap.

A single copy of Windows 7 Ultimate retail is $319.99 list price...and currently on sale at for $274.99. Thus, at retail MSRP just the 10 licenses for Windows 7 Ultimate would be $3,199.90. At the sale price listed, it's $2,749.90

A single copy of Office 2010 Professional retails at $499.99 list price...and currently on sale at Amazon for $408.96. Thus, at retail MSRP just the 10 licences for Office 2010 Professional would be $4,999.90. At the sale price listed, it's $4089.60

Total that up and it's nearly $8200. A $700 price tag should have screamed fake, fake, fake.

Edit: I looked at that site, I'm confused by how you got $700 in the hole.
--they list office 2010 professional for $32.00
--they list Windows 7 Ultimate for $10. (Seriously, how could anybody think this is legit?)

10 copies of each of those should have been $420.

Something's rotten in the state of Denmark (all Scandinavian friends, no offence meant).

Generally organizations, universities or just folks with a lot of machines buy volume licenses or academic ones or technet/msdn or at least 3-packs. What business are you in?

If you are anywhere near, take a disk of each program directly to them and explain your time limitations. Paypal, your credit card company and local authorities should accept Microsoft as an "authority."

Let's see.

You bought 10 copies of Windows 7 and Office 2010 at a fraction of the regular price - then you are shocked that the copies you planned to sell turned out to be fake -- which means you are now afraid to sell them to others because you figure you will get caught.

You ask PayPal to get your money back -- which they agree to do -- but they want something more than your word for it (gee, I wonder why they wouldn't just automatically trust you).

PayPal asks you to get an "unbiased, third-party" to state that the disks are fakes, but you are unwilling to go to a local dealer because they might realize that you were trying to cut into their business by selling your cheap copies of the software.

Yes, I'm sure that is all very embarassing.

Since you are unwilling to go to a local dealer, perhaps you might consider going to the police -- they will happily give you a receipt for the forged software stating that it is forged. You didn't mention where you are in the UK, but I know that the Metropolitan Police have a dedicated computer fraud section that handle counterfiet software along with other computer crimes, most other moderately large police agencies in the UK have similar sections even if it is only one person.

No one mentioned it, but you really ought to rotate that camera to the left 90 degrees the next time you take a video. My neck hurts now.
