    Google Icon

I would like to add a Google Icon to my desktop rather than have just a blank white tile. Would someone please be kind enough to tell me how to achieve this please?

    Hello RonBin79

You can just right click the icon got to properties and look for change icon.Than just browse to your new icon and apply. Here are some google icons for you to look at - Google Icons - Download 161 Free Google Icon. The icon shouldnt be just a white tile in the first place though, is it a desktop shortcut and what is it for.

If it used to have an icon and you just want it back this may be of help to you - Icon Cache - Rebuild

Glad your problem is solved RonBin. Here's some additional information for any other members who are interested in finding other available shortcut icons in Vista and Win 7.

On the Desktop, right-click the file or folder whose icon you wish to change, right-click on Properties, and then select Change Icon. When the new window opens up, you can either select from the icon choices given OR even better, click the Browse button, which takes you to the C drive\Windows, and there's a whole looooooooooooong list of .dll files/folders to choose from. Go to any one of these icon folders and select any one of the many, many icon choices offered. Here's a list of my favorite icon folders, (and I think imageres.dll and Shell32.dll have the largest selection).

You can experiment to your heart's delight. If you don't like your choice, try selecting another one, or two, or as many as you like, until you find one you like. You can do this for your Desktop icons, and the same icon should also appear in Quick Launch and Windows Explorer. Happy hunting!!!

Here's a list of some of my favorite .dll icon files:

    Accessibilitycpl.dll
    Compstui.dll
    Connect.dll
    imageres.dll
    netshell.dll
    nvcpl.dll
    nvdisps.dll
    pifmgr.dll
    pnidui.dll
    setupapi.dll
    Shell32.dll
    shwebsvc.dll
    stcplx64.dll
    sud.dll
    syncui.dll
    themecpl.dll
    urlmon.dll
    wcnwiz.dll
    wininit.dll
    wmploc.dll
    wpdshext.dll
    wuapi.dll
