    W7 is "Vista Ultimate 6.1 Ultimate Edition Build 7000"


    CPU-Z Validator 3.0

    Check that link and look under the main heading of my processor name where it shows my OS.

    yep, just type "winver" in start menu search tool, then enter.

    That doesn't specifically say it's Vista, just says it's 6.1 Build 7000

    The Windows Blog said:

    So windows 7 really is just a modified Vista and not built up from scratch?

    To some extend you could say that it's a fresh OS, but certainly not a fresh kernel.
