hi, would anyone know where to download an autochk.exe version for 6.1.7601.17514 win7 (or the corresponding KB975778 msu file)?

The version you mention (6.1.7601.17514) is the version that ultimately ships with SP1, so if you have SP1 you're already there. If you want the hotfix you mentioned for non-SP1 machines, visit the link for the KB article, and click the "View and request hotfix downloads" link in the top left-hand corner of the page to get the hotfix download location emailed to you by Microsoft.

Just because it's corrupted doesn't mean there's a hotfix - hotfixes (non-security fixes, specifically) are meant to fix bugs or workaround issues in the product itself. They won't fix file corruption, so you would be better served using SFC to fix the issue. Note you may need your Windows 7 SP1 installation source handy.

    Hello Jmm,

Here's a copy of that version number of autochk.exe from my system in a ZIP file below.

    Hope this helps,

didnt work - with your autochk, it doesnt even recognize the request and boots straight into windows - put mine back in and the problem is the same: restart screen says "disc check cancelled"...
    thanks anyway for sharing!

Could you upload and post the sfcdetails.txt file using Option Three in the link below to see what the results were?
