Server requires user name and password

I just purchased a new Dell with Windows 7 - Internet Explorer 9 and have transferred the Microsoft Expressions Webs that I had under my old Dell Win XP.

When I try to publish websites with the Windows 7 version I receive a Windows Security pop up with the message Warning the server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner. If I enter the login & password in this pop up it continues to pop back up and nothing happens.

These publishing settings work with the XP so it's not a problem with the internet, but for some reason the Windows 7 is not allowing me to publish. I have looked at all windows security options, I have full control of everything and have not been able to find an answer.

    Help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Lilliam, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I think you need to turn on Internet Information Services and Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core if you want to set your computer up as a web server.

Navigate to Start>Control Panel>Programs>Turn Windows Features On or Off and select them from there.

There could be a problem with your router settings so you might want to consider resetting your router.

It should have a rest button that can be accessed by a very small screwdriver or paper clip. Keep the router switched on, but press down on the reset button for 30 seconds or so.

I think in that case I would not be able to publish from the old computer and I have no problem doing that.

Really, it's a windows 7 issue...if anyone has any experience with this, I would appreciate a reply. thanks
