If I install the Home Premium version of the RTM now, will my upgrade HP license, which I pre-ordered already, activate this instalation?

Please tell me your thoughts guys.
    Thanks.

99.94% chance it will. That's what I'm doing with one computer I own.

    I hope so! :)
What about the thing with checking the older Windows license to to allow me to upgrade?
I have legal XP install right now.

It is very possible that an upgrade key will NOT work on a retail DVD, if I remember correctly it didn't with Vista either, which makes sense, as Microsoft seems to want to verify that you have obtained that upgrade legitimitaly.

    Edit:

Reread the question, if the upgrade is the free upgrade from Vista OEM which is running since a month or so, then you probably not going to have any problems, but even Microsoft hasn't been completely clear on their upgrade procedures.
