Did you by chance either install win 7 as an upgrade, or move the files from one hd to another?

    Clean install.

they are shared over the network, my xbox and my other PC can access them.

Also i do use libraries but only have the default folder in them, which i re located through the properties to my other partition.

Thing is, its not every folder, its just some, like 20 folders in video folder, contating a video, some of the 20 folders have a lock.

    Why is this?

    *Solved

Set sharing to Everyone. This is very stupid, Videos Folder was moved, some videos end up with lock, some dont. It also said some are in use, i disconnected my ethernet cable. Still in use. WMP was closed, nothing at all could of been accessing the files. very weird. didnt have any problem in vista.

yeah it worked, i set sharing to Everyone, eventhough i could already access the files over the network for that particular folder within Videos folder. very very odd.

I've noticed the lock gets put on them when you create a read only share.

I think it means the OS requires elevation before you can access it.
