Windows 7: I lost my MS Win7 Product Key

I can't find my Windows 7 DVD & Key and I need to re-install Windows7-

If I retrieve my MS Windows 7 Product Key (with Magic Jelly Bean Key finder), can I use my brothers

retail/boxed Windows 7 installation disk and enter 'my' legal Product Key?

Yes, I belive you can, as long as its a retail version of Windows, and not an OEM version.

Golden is correct. You can use any Windows 7 retail installer for the same version to reinstall with your own Product Key, whether it's the Product Key which comes in the retail box or on the COA sticker on a factory OEM machine.

In the first paragraph I deal with how to unlock all versions in the retail installer in case the DVD isn't the same version.

If both the versions match, it's fine using an OEM disk to install - it's the key that counts.

If it is an OEM disc though, you may have to ring MS to activate since OEM discs are meant for "one off/one machine" automatic activations.
