If you don't what it is called...how did you find it in the first place? By looking at the pictures

Honestly that logic makes no sense...
Thank you for your informed comment. I think I have beaten that horse to death earlier in this thread. Further comment would be redundant. Sorry for the snipe. (Short comment - (Often derogatory) used to make a point.)
Your comment about "Using an older OS" voids a warranty is completely false...

I am sure you were not being sarcastic and I appreciate the offer but that is not necessary.
Coolwalker, yes I was trying to be (very) sarcastic. I want to apologize very sincerely and have now deleted both offending posts.

I would like to explain a little: I got a PM from another vet, showing me my mistake. As soon as I'd read the PM I understood my mistake: English being a foreign language to me did a trick for me, once again.

I was being sarcastic thinking a well paid veterinarian (vet) as I understood it, was complaining about student discounts. It sounded very absurd and I couldn't believe it. I had no idea the poster was referring to veteran, vet. I could never use sarcasm when talking about the veterans, for that I feel too much respect and gratitude.

My offer still stands; I never promise something I'm not willing to do. Especially now when I know what the word vet in your posts means.

I am really sorry, hoping you can forget this episode. It seems to be so I have to make a fool of myself at least once a week here on Seven Forums. It's becoming my trade mark...

Tell it to hide the update by right-clicking on it. Unlike Apple Update it will not unhidden itself.

Ummm tiles? Don't know what you are referring to but the Windows GUI in Vista and Seven are built on Direct3D. Concerning Aero at least. The desktop is a fullscreen DirectX application. And the GUI is vector minus the bitmap icons.

..I know you said you're not explaining it well, so if I tell you what you already know, I apologize...

In "Your Name" folder, you have Docs, Downloads, etc. You just right click on them, go to the location tab, and move them to whatever drive you want. Is that what you mean or is there something different with the Macs? (I haven't used a Mac since high school)
Logicearth and awenthol, many thanks to you both for the clarifications, especially on the GUI front :)

Awenthol, in OS X you have a location manager app, it essentially just allows you to point folders like *users* and *programs* etc to another drive and the system does all the background stuff with regards to assigning paths etc.

Any program you install thereafter doesn't get confused. I suppose I was trying to say - migrate the whole *users* folder, but I have used your method and just created a new folder for each user on another drive. Many thanks to you both :)

I don't mean to put out false info... I thought I said can (Meaning MAY) void your warranty; which is what I was told by a Dell rep, and a Best Buy associate, when I asked about "downgrading" to XP from Vista. Since I have no Idea what type/brand computer is being used, nor am I an expert on warranties, I thought a qualifier was in order.

I bought the thing in May thinking I would qualify for an OS upgrade later. (oops)

Actualy I was told it WILL void my warranty If I "Downgrade".
    Any Dell reps out there?

I'd tell Dell (or anyone) to get lost... If you want to change OS that's your choice and it does not (or should not!) affect warranty. Warranty should only be applied to the hardware.

I think the thing I don't like the most is the wireless icon in the system tray. It isn't near as good as it was in Vista, where it would always say you were connected and such. I would say bad things about Live Movie Maker and Mail, but I transferred Windows Mail and Vista's Movie Maker over from Vista.

I've had windows 7 home Premium a week now and Love it actually. I would like a section in Control panel to have more control over the icons and taskbar, but the registry work arounds are easy enough. So far I am Endorsing this OS to everyone I know over XP and especially Vista. I used Vista on my main for over a year and still keep XP on my laptop gaming computer because of Ram restrictions on that particular model.

But I have to say there aren't many bad things I can say about windows 7 yet. So far not even one crash even trying to make it crash.

I have 6 years of college at A.S.U. My associates in Applied Science working toward a B.A. In computer science. I have cisco networking 1.2.3.4. Digital Electronics Technologies year 1 and 2, and Hardware A++ certified..

I did not like Vista the whole time I used it. I learned the tweaks and fixed and made it managable but not recommend that OS to anyone.

I do recommend to everyone if your are planning on buying a friend or family member a new computer or a new OS for christmas, WINDOWS 7 is the way to go. Microsoft finally did something right.

They took all the complaints and requests for new features from XP and Vista users and actually did what they asked for.

I think windows 7 is their best OS to date.

Oh I have to add the memory management in 7 is the best Microsoft has done yet.

I must be weird since I havent really liked it. I have had issues that my hardware wouldnt work on my new laptop, kinda weird. I dont like the WMP12 that doesnt have the taskbar player. The new taskbar isnt something I like either...seems cluttered to me anymore. Older program issues even in Compatibility mode, that isnt fun. My Xbox 360 wont come up on the Media Center either which is what I thought Seven was best for. Vista Home Premium has no issue with that. I am sure down the road it will be better, at least a better transition but I prefer vista...it works better for me.
