    4) The file system should have been started over, eliminate need for anti virus, malware, spyware protection etc.

That would have made windows 7 a major flop. Windows needs the backwards compatibility, otherwise it would have been another Vista (vista at introduction of course).

It's a real pain in the ass having to do the Ctrl+Alt+Del thing in the middle of a game, even before it. Also, even on my rig with a Quad Core CPU, 4GB's of RAM, and a GeForce 9500GT, Explorer being gone makes a big difference.
One way around that is simply using a batch file to start a game and add in:

    taskkill /im explorer.exe /f

then the command to start the game

and once that game is finished, issue a

    explorer

    to start it again.

Windows 7 no longer remembers the view sizes for individual folders. Every folder opens at the same size, and resizing one will make all subsequent folders open in that size. Mind you, every Windows since Windows 3.0 (maybe earlier) and most GUI-based OS's made in the last 20 years can remember the sizes of individual folders.

I've already run into a few glitches as a result of this, and it's annoying to no end. I'm actually delaying my Windows 7 plans for my gaming rig because of this.

The "single window" behavior of Control Panel apps only show off this behavior more, as many of them are not the same size and any attempt to size a window to fit one control panel applet (or the control panel itself) will invariably be wrong for any other Control Panel applet opened.

Graphics loading lag (texture loading) in Windows 7.

I have this MMO client installed in one of my non-OS drives (the client is portable) hence it works on both Windows 7 and Windows XP.

When I run the game in Windows XP, no problems.
When I run it in Windows 7, the graphics almost always load in a delayed fashion.

And before anyone asks, YES I have the latest drivers for my card.

I've tried everything I could think of to rectify this, and I've not been able to. Pisses me off

It could be explorer.exe eating off more than its fair share of resources in the background, I dunno.

It seems you can sort files by every criteria under the sun other than FOLDER SIZE!

When a hard disk's getting full I want to be able to sort everything on that disk from largest to smallest file, to largest to smallest folder, subfolders included. With XP there was a third party app that integrated this sort option into the shell, but that broke with Vista and now W7.

Applications like XYplorer do this. Why can't Windows?

(I got excited when I saw the Size column, but it still ignores the folders )

Only thing I dislike is the time it takes to do a repair installation. Repairing this issue (only problem I´ve had with W7) took almost 5 hours. But, honestly, how often do I have to do that, so I don´t care.

That put aside, I have to say it once more: I just love Windows 7!

    - windows explorer still sucks in some areas
    - still no easy way to make the user folder point to a different drive or partition
    - "Remember the damn folder!"
    - other than a new taskbar and improved window handling, very little shocking new things
    - still not happy with what I find under the start button
    - "instant" search not as instant as claimed
    - still many dumb defaults, two examples: "hide extension for known file types" or "system failure /automatically restart"
    - still trying to force me too much to use specfic myxxxx folders.
    - new themes engine is just very basic, nothing compared to third party solutions
    - Configuring firewall still too complicated compared to third party solutions.

    And the list continues...sigh

Theres no way to disable driver signing permanently. My netgear wifi card is never detected till I do an F8 and then disable the driver signing checking...

UAC still needs some method where I can specify a program I trust so that it will work on boot forever.
Well, then I think you will be happy.
There IS a way to do it (I use it), and it is quite simple.
Open up Task Scheduler, and create a task for your statup program. Run it 'Run with Highest Priveledges".

    Here is the tutorial.
Just make sure you substitute the time with Log On (not startup!).
