What don't you like about Windows 7?

The way 'focus' works in the 'file manager' (windows explorer of old). Open my C drive and choose a folder. That folder is blue indicating 'focus', OK so far. When I select a sub-folder the blue, indicating 'focus', goes to the bottom of the page. Now I selected the sub-folder so I could view its contents but all the contents of the folder are now below the visible part of my screen. I have to click on the sub-folder, again, and drag it up to the middle of the screen in order to view its contents. Now if I select one of these folders the blue (focus) again returns to the bottom of the page so if I need a file that is 4 or 5 levels deep, each time I have to drag the selected folder from the bottom of the screen to where its contents are visible. Yes, it is very aggravating. Why it doesn't expand below on the screen where it is at, versus popping the focused folder to the bottom is insane! That needs to be fixed in the next service pack.

One problem. Windows does not have as small as a market as Mac OS. Windows is required to have multiple versions.

Thank you. It's too bad the "Take Ownership" option isn't built in. Of course, why is it that I should have to wrest ownership of my computer from MS? That's what really burns me about the OS. Like the politicians the corporations know what's best for us.

Still waiting for my IE8 windows to hold their size. No previous fix works since around 7048.

This is especially irritating when I work on a dreaded Vista computer and the IE8 fixes its windows size instantly by setting it and clicking maximize a few times.

You don't have to "wrest" ownership of your computer from Microsoft. However, there is no reason for you to go into system areas and start deleting files. BTW, if you are attempting to free space by deleting these files, you are wasting your time. There are merely hardlinks, to remove them from the HDD requires all references to be deleted, not advisable..

What "seems" to have fixed the problem for me was opening IE, clicking "Tools", "Internet Options", "Advance" tab, and clicking the "Reset" button. This will reset IE8 to it's default settings and remove your custom settings, if you have set some. It will also disable some of your plug-ins, so you may need to reinstall them, but in the end IE8 now opens in maximized view.

I already mentioned this somewhere else, but I hate the fact that Windows 7 does not have a sidebar ruler like in Vista. Yes, it's cool that you can place the gadgets anywhere on the desktop, but at least an option to show/hide the ruler would be awesome. Also, I do not like the fact that the taskbar color is connected to the color of the window borders. It looked much better on Vista.

Here's my top 5:

1. Accidental folder deletion - granted this is technically user error but Windows has a bad habit of keeping items in the main explorer window highlighted in solid blue even when the focus is on the parent folder in the treeview. I've hit shift+delete a few times thinking the selected folder would be deleted but instead lost the entire parent folder! I never had this happen in XP.

2. Explorer Status Bar! Sure, it looks nice and all and is about 5 times as large as XP's but it can't even display the remaining disk space! I realize MS did this because of the new Libraries concept but they still could have found a way to include this information in the status bar. The status bar is pretty much useless without it.

These two have been a problem for me as well.

Accidently deleted a folder+contents but found the fix. In Tools > Folder Options > View option DESELECT the "Use check boxes to select items" option.

Regarding Status bar not showing remaining disk size, that's a problem for me as well - really miss that - dumb to remove it from 7. I managed to turn off the large status bar eye candy but don't remember how.
