Nothing bad to say about it really, it is the best OS I have used, it's better than Vista and XP, I really liked Vista, I never could understand why people thought XP was better than Vista, in a way, Windows 7 is not a massive amount different to Vista. Anyway, I like the sleek and stylish looks of Windows 7, love the new taskbar, at first I configured it to look like Vista but I've grown to like the new taskbar.
Performance is the best part, everything just loads so smoothly, memory usage is around Windows XP level whilst just like Vista, the system never fails to slow down. I just can't fault it, MS done good!

I'm a bit annoyed at a few things, this is for real, not kidding...
1) Windows 7 (and Vista) captures auto pasting. So say your using an external program (like Hamsins Clipboard). It provides a handy icon in the Notification Area, your on line using your browser and you have a text box that your typing into and you want to paste some info you have saved in the Hamsins CB, you click the icon, up pops the clipboard contents and you click on the bit you want to paste. Now in Windows XP, this worked perfectly. It would simply paste the info. Since Vista, and now 7, Windows 'captures' the info that's being sent to this form so you don't get an 'auto paste' from it. So far I see no way to tell Windows to back off and let the darned program paste for me rather than using keyboard shortcuts to paste! Total PITA!
2) In an system Explorer opened window, on the side bar, at the top is a link called "Favorites". Well it's not working as expected. I have done it all.. right clicked on a folder and told it to add to the Favorites. I've dragged the folder over to the Favorites... nothing I've tried works so I gave up. So if there's a way to hide the Favorites link on the side bar I just assume do that as it's a constant reminder that it's broken and I can't seem to use it. If there's a fix then please post!
Other than that, I've give Windows 7 a 90% approval rating. There's probably something else I don't care for but it escapes me at the moment (coffee has not kicked in yet or something!! )

Reason: Needed to make a few points more clear!

two things about the aero theme really annoy me
1) https://www.sevenforums.com/customiza...tml#post335574
never had this resolved. And yes Ive tried many other aero themes all dissapointing. I really want aero theme without the active bar font overlay
2) Better colour coordination with the task bar buttons. Basically get rid of the light grey
Then I'm a happy bunny again (rather envious of the vista theme thats how bad it is)
however I keep using it because its faster then classic theme.

My main issue with Windows 7 is the severe lack of 'fit and finish' present in the OS.
From a performance, stability, usability perspective, the OS is near perfect.
Sadly from an aesthetic perspective, I feel it is extremely lacking.
I appreciate that it isn't the most important area of an OS but as an official beta tester for Vista, 7, and a member of the Windows Early Feedback team, it is something I have been passionate about for some time.
Interesting perspective; I know it's an early (late) post but do you think MS got it right - I mean post-beta> Thanks. :)

My main peeve is no joystick support for db15 / midi. I have a great M$ Force Feedback Pro and I can't use it...........YET! I am still looking at the problem but right now not much luck

The only minor thing that I do not like is library. I think that it is not needed and just makes things more difficult.

I have to re-learn everything (well, not really)
That's what I really don't like about MS in general and Windows 7 in particular. They keep changing the names of the same functions and toss them around. Anybody need examples?

@Krout, after 10 years things are going to change...not just in the tech world either.
