if windows 8 is going to release on 2011, will u still buy window 7?

Although the answer is yes, with well over a year till 2011 why stick with Vista or XP

But of course I am going to get Windows7, I have TechNet Plus retail and when windows8 comes out I will get that too, Why because I am a nut that loves to try the newest System.

i might actually get pissed if 8 came out a ~year after i spent my life savings (lol) on 7.

Its going to be 2012 minimum. I am betting on mid 2013. So not two years, 3 or 4. The OS cycle is 3 to 5 years.

Damn got to wait that long; oh well, thank you MS for TechNet.

Maybe MS should pull an Apple, put out a new O/S every two years. Just purchased SL for $29.99; what a deal.

Hope it works with my G5 Power Mac with pre-intel chips. Oh no, my son said it doesn't, so he has it now.

If Microsoft want to stay at the top they have really to release a new OS every year at least like those Linux distributions.
If they don't they will have to release SP not only with bugs corrections but with new features too.
I think they should make Windows cheaper and release new versions more often.
They will be far away from those Linux distributions if they don't change their habits. And I really think they have understood that because when you see how they build Windows 7, it is completely different than the previous versions of Windows.
So I think they have already started to change the way they build new OS and it is a good thing.
That's the only way to integrate the new technologies that come out every weeks...

We barely know anything about Windows 8. I think it's too early to come to any conclusions.
