    USB Insertions Snafu

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. Recently, the autoplay notification box, which I once would see upon insertion of either a mass storage device or USB flash drive, fails to appear. Actually, that's not quite true. It flashes very very briefly, but then goes away. I'm certain it's some setting that I mistakenly changed, or some other dumb thing that I have done wrong, but I would like to get it fixed.

Has anybody any suggestions as to where I could start, and how I would go about it?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Try going to control panel - hardware and sound -programs - default settings for media or devices. You can make changes there for all devices.

I don't have anything like that in my Control Panel display. Can you be more specific?
    Thanks.

Open control panel and click where the arrows are. I hope this works for you.

Or the easy way is click the start button and type auto play in the search box.

In the auto play window did you check the checkbox at the top to use auto play for all devices?

I was referring to this box

If that doesn't work I'll have to think of something else.

At the bottom of the page is a button to restore defaults. Try that
