    I want 2 try win7 ... But I feel like an idiot

    Hello All,
    I'm D/L win7

what do I do with the file, does it need an activation key?

    will it only last 120days?

    what happens after 120days?

if I convert .ISO onto a DVD then install, will it be like a fresh install and wipe out my drive and all the programs and tweaks I've done in 10months? ( does it have to be a new HDD )

I know what I want to say but my fingers won't type what I'm thinking

    all the best,
    ~Carmine

ps see my specs, can I only put a 32bit OS?

pps please delete this post, I'm waiting to get a new laptop with win7. I deleted the .ISO and utorrent

First you dont have your specs listed. we need to know make mode ram, video card, etc.
second you are dl'ing the 64 bit which we dont know yet if it is capible of running
third there are no keys available.
fourth yes it will last 120 days unless you buy a legal copy and then it would last longer
Fifth you can either install clean, or upgrade. clean is better

    Hello Carmine,

The easiest way is to burn (extract) the ISO to a DVD using a program like ImgBurn to use to install Windows 7 with.

It depends on what your current version of Windows 7 installed is. Please post back on this for more about it.

There are no product key numbers available yet for a RTM build, so we have to use the rearm trick every 30 days for up to 120 days. By then though, the retail version will be for sale to purchase, install, and activate.

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

    Hi pac

It's kinda best to make a partition for it as it will run out in 120 days. you have to rearm it every 30 days for a total of 120 days, then you will need to buy a retail ver. to keep using it. With the copy you have you'll need to do a clean install. Hope this helps. If you have more questions will be more than haoppy to hellp.

    Hi
Well firstly what you have downloaded seems to be the iso. You dont need to convert it to iso, just burn it directly to disk using nero or some similar program. Cant remember if vista comes with built in iso burn function. Think it has.
Secondly, the 120 day limit is not really a concern unless your not going to buy 7 when it gets released to the masses. Just make sure the version you buy is the same as you install and all you have to do is activate using you new legit key. However if you dont intend to purchase 7 then yes after 120 days you will start getting problems. Random shutdowns etc....
Thirdly, you can upgrade if you wish. There are a lot of mixed results upgrading, so personally ( along with a lot on this forum) i allways fresh install.
And lastly, you have 3 gig of ram. 64 bit utalizes 4 gig of ram and above. You can install 64 bit if you want so long as your CPU supports it. Might be the option if you plan on installing more ram in the future. But bare in mind if you install the 64 bit of 7 you cant upgrade vista. As you cant upgrade 32 bit into 64.

    Hope this helps

Thank you all for such a fast reply,

I have deleted the file and will wait for 10/22/09.
I thought we were allowed to test these torrent things.

It's up to you if you like to, but they are not official releases from Microsoft. You can get the official Windows 7 RC build from the link below, but you will need a Windows Live account to do so. You can sign up for one free there if you do not.
