I live in the U.S. and wanted to install E version, but after doing a little digging in W7 files I found a list of responses for activation and one being:

"The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked for this geographic location"

I'm not sure if this is for the starter editions or will be applied to E versions, but I would think twice before purchasing a U.S. key and applying to E version.
proxy server in router will take care of that

I have now installed Windows 7E on a VirtualMachine, after installing the Windows6.1-KB968771-x64 patch to add IE8, you will have exactly the same Windows with exactly the same features as the normal verison.

For me I will install this week the E version as main System (and use IE8 ), so I can Activated it @ Ocobre 22.

Personlay I do not think that they do not release the E- Version (allready because they have sell it as pre-order, and they have with that pre-order a contract with conditions, they mus respect)

I think IE is a MAJOR addition to any windows, especially windows 7 because of its unique integrated features. Does anybody know if you can get the same features (e.g. superbar tab preview) with a simple upgrade package or web installer?

Then again, Firefox rumors about this same kind of integration (by means of multiple processes for each tab) may be a reason to switch...

Are we already able to install the browser we want in E versions? Or it just don't have IE?

The EU has yet to accept MS's proposal. There are several other issues linked in (interoperability, full access to api's, Office) that need consideration.
This is the EU's last change to get it right and they are not bound by any time limit to give MS an answer.
The longer they wait, the more nervous MS gets because MS needs a timely release date.
The more nervous MS, the more concessions they'll make.

Do the math, but one thing you can be sure off the EU version will have ample browsing capabilities

Sorry, stupid question but do you have to download this separately?
I cant install IE8 as a download as i get a error about it not being supported.
Can you point me in the right direction for this patch?
At the moment im using Firefox but i would like IE8 as well.

    Thanks.

I read that you can take the IE.exe from a Vista OS and replace the exe on Windows 7 E and it works, if anyone wants the it to try PM me and I will upload it for you.
