Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help me. I apologize beforehand for the length...
A few days ago, my computer just froze up almost immediately after start-up
(an error notification in the lower right hand corner showed
that sysWOW64 is corrupt...). The error message popped up then it froze, no beeping noises, no blue screens, no nothing...
(NOTE: I just reinstalled my OS about 10 days prior so the only software that I
had were the windows automatic updates and the new
drivers for my graphics card, no
games, antivirus and/or any other software YET. just used it for browsing the internet, email, etc...)
After it froze, I did a hard shutdown of the PC. Booting the pc after that automatically takes me to the STARTUP REPAIR window;
diagnosis and repair details will then show
ROOT CAUSE FOUND: SYSTEM VOLUME ON DISK IS CORRUPT
REPAIR ACTION : FILE SYSTEM REPAIR (CHKDSK)
RESULT: COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY(ERROR CODE 0X0)
TIME TAKEN = 16MS
(no other error codes before it)
Clicking FINISH will restart the computer (and repeat the process over again...)
clicking CANCEL will give me two choices, either to restart
the PC (same thing, after RESTART it takes me to the startup repair window again...) or not.
I have tried leaving it alone wherein it automatically restarts after a 30-second count
and the whole process goes on and on as if on a loop for about 8-10
times and then just freezes after that. Hard shutdown then reboot brings me back to square one.
I have also tried booting the PC with the Windows 7 DVD
in the drive (hoping to do a clean install or repair it from there). If I do that,
I either select REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER or INSTALL NOW.
If I choose REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER===>USE RECOVERY TOOLS
===>it will bring me to the SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTIONS window.
I have 5 options from there:
1) STARTUP REPAIR = will bring me to that same loop again (see above)...
2) SYSTEM RESTORE = will tell me that no restore points have been created....
3) SYSTEM IMAGE RECOVERY = tells me that Windows cannot find a system image on this computer...
4) WINDOWS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC = will run the test, no problems detected
5) COMMAND PROMPT then CHKDSK/c = will tell me that:
WARNING! C PARAMETER SPECIFIED.
YOUR DRIVE MAY STILL BE CORRUPT EVEN AFTER RUNNING CHKDSK.
(no significant, ominous error messages) 0KB IN BAD SECTORS, WINDOWS HAS
CHECKED THE FILE SYSTEM AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS, etc...(I dont really know what i'm looking for tbh)
CHKDSK/R = will then tell me that TYPE OF FILE IS NTFS,
CANNOT LOCK CURRENT DRIVE, CANNOT RUN DISK CHECKING ON THIS VOLUME BECAUSE IT IS WRITE PROTECTED.
If I try to reinstall Windows 7, Setup will start and gives me 2 choices
1)UPGRADE = will then require me to restart the PC without the installation disc,
which takes me back to square 1 if i do it (automatically goes to STARTUP REPAIR, see above).
2) CUSTOM = gives me the option of where to install windows;
partition 1:system reserved 100.00 MB 70.00 MB free (wont do since i need at least 8196 mb free space)
partition 2 931.4 GB 931.4 GB free===>gives me the following error code:
cOULD NOT FORMAT A PARTITION ON DISK 0. ERROR
OCCURED WHILE PREPARING PARTITION FOR INSTALLATION.
ERROR CODE 0X80070057
(If I try and format the partition, it will give me the same error code as above. 0x80070057)
I am really running out of options here. I would take it to a PC repair shop, but I don't want to unless I have exhausted all options, including trying to do it myself (with your help of course!). I would like to know how to deal with this sort of problems, just in case I have one in the future...My knowledge of computing is only up to installing games and drivers, that sort of stuff. This is the first time Ive had this problem since buying this PC about 2 years back, its quite stable up until now...
Your help and input is much appreciated. Thanks!
