    Help! I've got invisible fonts!

I've installed some fonts. I know they're there, and I CAN USE THEM in Word and also Works, but they are NOT showing up in the Windows folder. I know all about changing the settings by hiding fonts based on language settings, and also showing or hiding them manually. But I can't do anything because they don't appear to be in the folder. I've tried everything, and they just don't appear to be there. But, again, they do appear in my word processor.

Have you tried doing a search for the font nam eon your HD. Probably in another location? What do you want to do with them? If they work in Word and Works?

    Hi Iggy,

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm impressed! I did search for them on the C:\ drive, and that came up empty.

I'm asking for help partly because I'm stumped and that's annoying. But also, one of the fonts turned out to be problematic, and I want to delete it. Can't delete what I can't find!

Would appreciate and will try any ideas!

(By the way, I'm a little jealous of you out there in Arizona. Love the west! I lived in Utah for awhile and miss it.)

    Thanks again,

    Marlene

Have you been into control panel and select fonts?
If you did do you see the font in the list?
Also note that some say hidden. Even though you may have everything unhidden the fonts may not work that way.
That is the best I can suggest at the moment

    Hi again, Iggy,

This is just FYI. I've pretty much given up.

Actually, I had only gotten into the fonts folder the old-fashioned way: C:\Windows\Fonts. I did now go through the control panel, and the fonts are still not there.

These fonts were installed with an executable file from fonts101.com, so I found one of the fonts in another website and installed it just using the .ttf file, hoping it would appear. No luck.

    Thanks for trying!

An executable file?! That doesn't smell good if you want my advice... Double clicking a .ttf file should be enough for windows proposing you to install it...

    Absolutely!

But I really wanted the font and there was no other way. That's what it was.

I will heed your advice and stay away from it in the future. I'm really annoyed that I did it. I just reformatted my drive and don't want to do it again anytime soon!

    Thanks for the warning.
