    Always use select program Greyed out Windows 7


    In windows 7 i have been trying to open .jar files and for some reason i attempted to open it using cmd.exe ever since doing that it's locked the ability to select another program using <Always use the select program> however other extensions work fine.

    Hello Ratchetclan,

    See if downloading and merging the REG file below, and restarting the computer may be able to help. It will restore the default associations of the JAR file extension.

    If not, then OPTION TWO in the tutorial below may be able to restore and ungray this option for you.

    Open With - Add or Remove "Always use selected program"

    The registry edit fixed it :)! thanks brink
    i had to reinstall java because i could not find out what .jar files opened with lol
    before you regfix reinstalling java did nothing.

    This is my registry now
