    Two versions of powercfg.exe

I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. I found that I have two different versions of powercfg.exe and that a different one runs depending on whether I'm in cmd.exe or a certain other shell. As you can see below, the executables have different file sizes and timestamps, though the file details show both as the same version 6.1.7600.16385. I'm trying to figure out which is the "right" one. Could someone let me know the file size(s) of their powercfg.exe(s)?

    Code:
    Directory of C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe
    7/13/2009 9:14p 59,392 powercfg.exe

    Directory of C:\Windows\SysWOW64\powercfg.exe
    7/13/2009 9:14p 59,392 powercfg.exe

    Directory of C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-p..nfiguration-cmdline_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_6550a9de9a702b0f\powercfg.exe
    7/13/2009 9:39p 71,168 powercfg.exe

    Directory of C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-p..nfiguration-cmdline_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_09320e5ae212b9d9\powercfg.exe
    7/13/2009 9:14p 59,392 powercfg.exe

You need both. One for the 32bit apps, one for the 64 bit. The ones in WINSXS are the "store", they are backups used if the ones in path get corrupted.

I'm asking because the output of powercfg -requests is different. Here's the 59K version:

    Code:
    DISPLAY:
    None.

    SYSTEM:
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Legacy Kernel Caller
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ
    [DRIVER] Ĵ

    AWAYMODE:
    None.
    And the other:

    Code:
    DISPLAY:
    None.

    SYSTEM:
[DRIVER] Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) (PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_000B&SUBSYS_00431102&REV_04\4&1b89d1f&0&00E0)
An audio stream is currently in use.

    AWAYMODE:
    None.
Only one has clear, useful information.

I figured it out. My other shell has an option to disable Win64 file system redirection. Now the same 64-bit powercfg.exe runs instead. Thanks.
