    Welcome to Windows Vista Forums.

If your applications are opening in Safe Mode, you may have a driver problem of some sort.

As the netbook is new I think you ought to take it back where you bought it and get it checked out while it is under warranty.

    Hi and welcome,

You stated that yesterday it was working properly, may I ask did you install any new software or any updates since yesterday that may have affected it?

    You're welcome.

My concern is that being unable to load applications when you startup suggests something is wrong, be it driver, hardware or virus-related.

You might as well make use of the guarantee period to get any problems sorted out. If the store can't fix it, they are duty bound to either replace or refund.
