Very long startup + temporary account issue Been having some problems with a laptop and it kind of just appeared out of nowhere. When it boots up, everything starts fine but when the Welcome screen appears, it just hangs there for 15-20 minutes. After that, it says I am logged into a temporary account. However, my name is still displayed on the start menu and I am the only user listed. If I try to log off or switch users, I'm back to the welcome screen waiting for 15 minutes.
I've tried going into safe mode and the same error is displayed about me being on a temporary account.
Any suggestions? | My System Specs |

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.
Sounds like it could be virus related so you might want to run a full scan in Safe Mode.
Malwarebytes will do a good job for you. Agreed seavixen, I'd download Super AntiSpyware too (links in my sig) and run both consecutively. Please update the definitions for both first.
You can login to your regular account and try to delete the temporary one. I just used both spybot s&d as well as malwarebytes and both came up with no problems. Would super antispyware pick up something the other two programs didn't? When I try to log off or look at the user accounts in control panel, it lists me on my main account but on startup, an error says I'm on the temporary account.
Any other suggestions that could fix this problem? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit |

Yes SAS may find something different, and uninstall SpyBot. It was great with XP and earlier but wreaks havoc in Windows 7.

Only other thing short term I can suggest is a system restore to a point before the problem occurred as the virus scan hasn't showed anything up.
In case it's a user account that's corrupted you could create a new one, and then delete the other two. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop Very long startup + temporary account issue problems?
