Motherboard/CPU upgrade with Retail Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Having read some threads I am under the impression I won't have to purchase another copy of windows but I was wondering what I will have to do in order to continue using the same copy of windows.

Some people have indicated that I will need to contact Microsoft but I couldn't determine if they meant the automated phone number used to activate Windows or if was another number?

Thanks in advance and I apologize if this is a well answered question elsewhere.

I have used the same copy of windows 7 through around 3 motherboard changes and cpu changes.

On 2 occasions I have had to activate by phone, and you just simply follow the instructions on your pc screen and via the automated phone. Takes a few mins at most.

Edit: And welcome to seven forums McRask

    Cheers

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

After you've re-installed Windows 7 try activating in the normal way.

If it isn't accepted you can use this method:

Click Start and type slui.exe 4 in the Search field then press Enter to bring up the automated activation wizard.

Select your region and dial the free telephone number then follow the activation wizard's instructions.

If your installation ID isn't accepted call Microsoft and speak to one of their reps.

Explain you've upgraded your hardware and stress you've only got Windows installed on one computer when asked and you'll be given a new activation ID.
