EFS Decryption Access Denied
Running Win 7 Pro 64-bit
I just EFS encrypted a folder full of files about two hours ago. Now I cannot decrypt them.
I am the user (security principle) who encrypted it. I have Full permission. I am the owner. I do not have other user accounts on the machine, except of course the standard default ones (Administrator, etc.)
The System user account has Full permission to System Volume folder, which Microsoft says is sometimes the problem. It is not the problem, I checked. I even checked my Effective Permissions. Good across the board.
When I attempted to decrypt, all of the folders themselves decrypted, but the files within them did not. Attempting to decrypt a file I get:
An error occurred applying attributes to the file
Access is Denied
I have read all of the Microsoft helps I can find on this and tried them all.
Any idea why I can't decrypt/use these files (mainly Excel and Word files) and why the folders would have decrypted but not the files inside them?
Any ideas as to how to access my files?
