Installing language software, sidebyside error or D:/ not a vald win32

So I was installing a language software today and I managed to get it loaded, however I had to restart my computer to an earier date for other reasons so I had to re-install the language software. Upon re-installing the language software I recieved a message stating "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

However, when I try to open the sxstrace a little black screen flashes on my computer for a split second and then disappears but won't bring it up :-/.

I vied my event logs and I see two different errors for the side by side. The first is event ID 33 and says activation context generation failed for C:/windows/installer/{67E03279-F703-408F-B4BF-46B5FC8D70CD}/WksWP.exe" Dependent Assembly msadctls,processorArchitecture='x86", type="Win32", version="1.0.1801.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

the second one is event id 59 and says activation context generation failed for "D:/setup.exe" error in manifest or policy file "D:/setup.exe" on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax.

Ive tried a few things to fix it already but to no avail....if anyone could please help me fix this I would greatly appreciate it!

I have two suggestions:

1. this "sxstrace.exe tool" seems to be a command-line tool. This means, that you are not supposed to click on it, but rather open the command line window (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt). There you have to type sxstrace to start the tool. Most likely, you will have to first navigate to the folder where the tool is located, or type the explicit path (something like "C:\Program Files\...enter the correct path here ...\sxstrace"). Quite possible the tool has some options as well. You should read the description of the tool at the developers website.

2. It seems that restoring Windows did not uninstall your first installation of the language software. So now you have two copies of it installed and the app does not like it. Try a complete uninstall. For this, you should go to the developers website and find instructions. Usually complete uninstall instructions are provided or they might have a tool to do this automatically. Alternatively, you can use Revo Uninstaller to do the job.

Once the app is uninstalled, you can use CCleaner to make sure that nothing is left over. After that you can install the app again. Hopefully this time it will work.
