    Help

    Hi,

I have encountered a strange problem with my Windows 7 RC which I had encountered with Beta Version of the same on my friend's Laptop. Just logging in today I saw all the windows services were shut and if I try to open anything error would crop up like opening device manager gave me error turning on windows firewall and audio service too getting error and it seems the whole OS and the respective files are corrupted. Only few installed third party software works and rest is giving errors. I got the hint of this problem on my PC with the windows explorer icon getting corrupted and rest everything also went kaput. The same thing would happen on my friend's Toshiba Laptop as every thing worked great the installations and all but soon after some time the OS got corrupted like this. Now on my system I can only open a few Third Party Programs like Firefox and rest while all windows related stuff gives error and I can't do any installation or un-installation or do a recovery even!!! Nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me out what has happened to OS all of a sudden??

Hi meet, welcome to the forums.

1 quick question, are you sure it's the RC you're using? The bahaviour you are describing is similar to the shutdown process that the Beta (7000) exhibits as it's now past it's expiry date.

it seems that a complete reinstall is called for.

hopefully your original install disc is not corrupted - the rc is no longer available for download from microsoft. did your friend with the same problems use the same disc as you?

No I gave my friend Beta version so Thanks to previous reply I kno why it behaved weirdly but even vista got corrupted after installation which I didn't get?? Only XP is working fine so couldn't do much. But why win 7 has corrupted on my machine is something I don't get........would some program be the reason or what has made it unusable??

    @ meet6600,

From your specs, are you over-clocking ?

In addition to everything else mentioned I would recommend that you run a full anti-virus sweep of the system.

Obvious I know but there could be a nasty lurking in one of your applications that causes this issue after install.

I would suggest spybot S&D and malwarebytes scans at the very least and of course that you run some form of resident AV - many choices are available both commercial and free

    Hi

Yeah I have done mild overclocking of my CPU to 3 GHz from Stock 2.7 and have done all the scans from malwarebytes to kaspersky......
