Actually the last resort is a clean install, which causes you to lose some programs. A repair install can only help and won't lose anything

Where you seem to get stuck is running SFC again to see if it will repair the files. This may take several attempts.

If not the next step in Repair Install. Read the blue link provided.

Then as John points out, you still have the clean reinstall option which is our specialty here. We will help you get it perfect.

Let us know how it goes, or any other questions you have. We do not tire of solving these problems, only having to repeat ourselves.

Thanks guys for all the help.

When I have been press8 repeatedly, I get several options and one of them is last known good configuration. I tried that and my system is working perfectly. But I haven't shut off power since then and touch wood, so far it is working perfectly.

Something done just before the crash was undone by Last Known Good.

You can study the logs and System Resources in troubleshooting link in my signature picture below if it repeats to see what is the cause.

    Feel free to ask further.
