Don't know if you can do it with other apps.
This is not exactly the same thing, because you're not opening
Windows Explorer at your last 'saved location' - but think of these shortcuts as similar work-arounds until you find the actual solution --- and they're actually also very useful shorcuts: Clicking Alt + Left Arrow takes you back to your last location Clicking Alt + Right Arrow –after you’ve gone back to your last location, it takes you back to where you originally were.
Hello and thank you for the welcome,
I have tried your suggestion with Clicking Alt + Left Arrow, but I'm probably not doing something correctly.
The picture below shows where I am with regards to trying to save the next picture in same location as the last edited, renamed and saved picture.
I had just saved Royce SID nds (highlighted blue in my WIP folder). I want to save the next edited and renamed picture (Royce SID f) in the same WIP folder, but the Save As pop up box has reverted back to the 103Nikon location.
I have to navigate back down to the WIP folder rather than the application remembering the last location.
Apologies if I'm not explaining this very well - or indeed repeating myself.
