Windows 7 Pro - Starts up with Wingdings as the default font

As the title states, every other day or so after being off for about 16 hours, when I start the computer, Wingdings is the default font.
I did complete computer scans with Avast, Malware Bytes and Microsoft Essentials. There is no virus or malware detected!

A search on the forum recommended the above and also suggested that the font registration goes bad when using Windows update while anti-virus is on. However, that scenario is allegedly only on Windows XP machines.

My cure is to merge a font registry fix and restart, then all is back to normal. I may end up doing a re-install, but would appreciate any suggestions or fixes that would do the trick for me.

Who else has access to your computer?

No one has access to the computer but myself and teen daughters who use it for email and homework. Their web surfing is closely supervised.

BTW (off the point) I have been to Lethbridge, Calgary, Banff, etc., love your country up there.

I have looked at those. The reg file for the Segoe UI font is the one I use to restore to default.
Do you suggest I follow a different procedure or ???

OK, I did some looking around. According to my registry, I only have five fonts installed.

It appears as though I may just have to do a repair installation.

Thoughts?

I think this is solved. I copied all of my fonts from another Windows 7 machine, installed and then deleted the Wingdings from the list.

Good to herar you got it solved though. I was thinking someone was doing this as a prank.

Oh and when did you go to lethbridge? Wind season? Snow Season? Teflon Road season? Or when-the-weather-is-actually-good-yet-rainy-enough-for-everything-to-be-lush-and-green season?

Icefire: I thought it was a prank also. I'm glad I brought the problem here, you guys got me thinking.

I was up there in June in 2004 for about four days. We had one rainy day. Sun and cool the rest. I really enjoyed the mountains, lakes, bears, etc.

I have found that this happens after every automatic system restore point gets created. Anyone else?
I keep having to restore to a manual restore point.
