can't type password?

Hoping someone can give me a good answer to this Ė before I need to reboot!

Iíve seen a few similar posts floating around but nothing that is exactly my issue or gives a suitable answer.

Iím running Win 7 64bit on a desktop, I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, and Wacom tablet.

So I could not type in my windows password this morning, either using the Logitech keyboard or the on-screen one with the mouse. After about an hour of trying and several restarts (and my primary and secondary monitors switching for some reason), I could put the password in

Once in Windows I found there was a keyboard issue: I was only typing the occasional special character (an accented i was one: ďŪĒ) . Trying to type a test email I had the i-cursor available in the header (title-box) but not the body, even the special characters could not be typed in the main body. For some reason I picked up my pen tool, moving this over the email body produced a ďcontrol/AltĒ yellow box prompt next to the pen cursor Ė pressed these keys, now all is fine

Can someone tell me what happened! I canít search anything on Google that explains what went on! Iím now afraid to shutdown! Thanks.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit

The only possible solution I've found is this:

Click Start and type cmd in the Search field.

Right-click cmd and choose Run as Administrator then accept the UAC prompt.

Type regsvr32 shgina.dll then press Enter to run the command.

Type Exit and press Enter to close the command shell then restart your computer.

Hi seavixen32,

Thank you for your answer.

Can I ask you to explain what running regsvr32 shgina.dll will actaully do?

Found a couple of items where people talk about this dll in relation to broken log-ins, but couldn't get a grip on how it's actually involved - do you think it can explain the odd-character set-up I got too?

Thank you very much again for your time and help.
