Windows 7 Does Not Wake Up, What Do I DO?!

Hi all, this is my second post today. Just when i get one problem figured out, out pops another one. First, when windows first booted, my screen sometimes didn't come on, but now it does. Now, when i put the computer to sleep, it doesn't wake up. I have to power it off and then power it back on. I really dislike doing this, and am really getting frustrated. If i can't get it fix quickly, i am going back to XP. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. If requested, will list what all i have tried, as i have tried alot of different things. Thanks again.

What are you doing to wake it up? My motherboard/BIOS lets me choose different ways to wake up the PC, and I chose the space bar. Pressing other keys or the mouse does nothing here.

i have set both the mouse and keyboard to wake it up. neither work, so i tried pressing the power button. it doesn't work either. i'm going to try and reinstall the latest drivers, and see if that works.

OK, bye, but before you go have you checked your BIOS settings?

Is there anything relevant in Event Viewer? Does your PC case indicate that it's really in sleep/standby with a flashing LED or something?

I've had various sleep/hibernate issues with Windows 7 and my motherboard. Mine still freezes occasionally when waking. Let's see if we can figure this out.

Are you dual-booting XP and 7? And the PC still wakes properly after sleeping under XP?

What's the motherboard make and model?

Can you drop to a command prompt (run > cmd.exe), run "powercfg -a", and paste the output?

In the meantime, have you tried enabling hybrid sleep (Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Sleep > Allow hybrid sleep)? That will hibernate at the same time so that if the system doesn't wake from sleep, it still resumes from where you left off.

I'm with fjawodfc, I have a pre-W7 PC that I upgraded to W7HPx64 and I could not get it to work properly with Sleep mode for love or money. Spent many weeks (months?) trying, before I gave-up and run it in Hibernate only, and this works very well indeed--I'm happy with it.

I have learned to love W7 and wouldn't go back to XP myself. Indeed the only issue(s) I've found with W7 are surrounding the Sleep/Standby functionality. Along with bildrk-type problems, some programs don't seem to know how to keep W7 alert, and it will go-to-Sleep (or in my case Hibernate) in the middle of operation e.g. virus scanning or something. I've learned though to look-for and deal with those (using W7's superior Task Scheduling capabilities).
