    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

This tutorial shows you how to partition your hard drive during a Windows installation:

Partition the Hard Drive in a Windows 7 Install

This one shows you how to partition a hard drive using disk management or diskpart:

Partition or Volume - Create New

Partition Wizard is an excellent free alternative:

Try optimizing the C partition. If data is spread out on the partition, it will not let you shrink the volume.

The best tool for this is free Partition Wizard bootable CD which has helped us do this hundreds of tmes here.

Use the CD and not the Windows version as like with other Partition Managers the Windows installed version can fail, while the CD is not known to fail.

If you have any further questions, please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map with listings, using the Snipping Tool in Start menu.

I also recommend Partition Wizard. Works great.
