Can't get a program to open after upgrade from 7 Home to 7 Pro

Hello,
I used Windows Anytime to upgrade from Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Professional and now a program that ran fine under Home will not even open. I've tried reinstalling, using compatibility mode for XP, but nothing seems to work. When I double click on the .exe, it seems to try to open, but now window pops up, and no error message appears.

Any ideas. It worked fine before upgrading from 7 Home to 7 Professional.

Other programs seem to be working fine.

It would help to know the name of the program.

If uninstalling and then reinstalling fails, try using Revo Uninstaller in Advanced Mode to uninstall it before reinstalling: Revo Uninstaller - How toTo Completely Uninstall Programs

Next enter msconfig>Startup to make sure the program doesn't still have a listing that is checked. If so, uncheck it. Then check msconfig>Services for anything from the program that is running unbeknownst to you. If in doubt or not wanting to google unfamilar listings, just uncheck everything in both places except your A/V to get what is known as a Clean Boot. Programs can wait to start until you click on them, others are freeloaders on RAM, CPU and Startup and can cause these issues. You'll need several restarts to sort whether these changes made are adhered by stubborn programs.

It is a mapping program called HotMaps Explorer.

Interesting program. It is def for Windows 7 so we have to first see if the reinstall is being blocked by bits of the uninstall remaining, as does happen. So follow the steps I gave, report back results.

If necessary you can also open a Support case with them at support@fugawi.com since it may be a known issue to them, even though Repair Install didn't flag it so likely it's not known yet to MS.

Hello Keely, after executing Gregrocker's suggestions, check Fugawi Software Updates to see if some updates apply to your version of Hot Maps.
Revo Uninstaller is especially good at removing all left-over bits of software.
