Is it possible to choose which columns appear in folder view?

    Hi,

Is it possible to choose which columns appear in folder view? In my 'details' view, it always shows 'type' which i find redundant as i show file extensions.

I know how to remove them temporarily, or 'for this folder', but i'd like to remove it for all folders i view with the details view. i.e. i'd like 'type' to be permanently removed for all folders viewed with 'details' without me having to ask it for each new folder.

I suspect the answer to this is floating around the forum, but the search terms i came up with are very generic and lead to a lot of results.

    Thanks.

    Hello Recusant,

Sure you can. Open a folder, not a library folder though, with "details" view and the folder template that you want to change this for. Next, remove the "Type" column, and use Apply to Folders as in the tutorial below to set it this way.

    Hope this helps,

OMG, So simple. How embarrassment :)

I assumed it would make ALL my folders the same, not just those using the same template. I'm sure that's the way XP used to behave.

Your tutorials are excellent. Thank you very much.

    You're most welcome.

That tutorial will only apply them for all folders with the same folder template. If you would like to apply it to all folders no matter the folder template, then the tutorial below will help show you how to. :)
